About the movie

Award for best male performance to Alessandro Gassmann, at the Venice Film Festival 2020

Simone Segre is a surgeon who has never been able to heal his own intimate wound, nor soothes the strained bond with her father, a Holocaust survivor. While kayaking, he witnessed a road accident: he ran to rescue the victim, but in front of the tattoos on the injured man’s chest, he was paralyzed. What is his real duty? Can we forget the past, forgive the unforgivable? Can we do justice to ourselves? How do you learn not to hate (non odiare)? The man dies. Simone’s life is turned upside down. Seized with guilt and remorse, he wants to help the victim’s children: he hires Marika, the eldest daughter; the brother, enrolled in a neofascist group, will also cross his path.
